I have been just as confused about John McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin for VP as Diddy. Diddy wants to know if there are even crackheads in Alaska? That is important. Crack Kills!
I started writing a post yesterday about this Sarah creature and it was derailed by my phone call debate with my ultra-conservative father. Bless his little heart, but he’s so wrong about so many political issues. His generationhad their turn to make a mark in history! Needless to say, I was pissed off the rest of the day to finish my research on Sarah Palin.
Diddy, I am with you on McCain’s “bugging” for choosing her to be a heartbeat away from “the trigger“.
Magnificent! I am so proud that our country nominated Barack Obama for President, the first ever African-American to a major party in the United States. I have been sitting on the edge of my seat since this past June, anticipating Hillary “the Trojan Horse” to steal the Democratic Nomination away from Barack Obama. I thought it was very classy of her to stop the roll call vote on Wednesday afternoon at her home state of New York, to give their delegate count into nomination. (I have a bone to pick with the media, but more on that later.)
Barack Obama’s speech was laced with all the specifics people have been asking for: what does Change mean? Who is this guy and where did he come from? The speech was also peppered with strong language directed at the Bush/Cheney regime of the last eight years and John McCain’s low-road campaign tactics over the past two months. This will not be any ordinary election. Barack Obama, in a mere 43 minutes of speaking, took back his patriotism and also for all those who do not agree with this government, he sucker punched John McCain and put him on the defensive to explain himself on many issues facing this nation - I am looking forward to that speech today. But most importantly is what he said in his speech to all Americans on the 45th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream.” Barack inspired us all to be better people, and to help others in need. But, most importantly, if we all work together, the United States of America can once again be the greatest nation in this world today.
I look forward to this general election. Given Obama’s cool and even temperment and McCain’s off-the-cuff style, the three debates scheduled this year should be “Must See TV.” Speaking of TV and cable news, SHAME ON YOU! CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ABC, NBC, CBS did not show the Democratic National Convention in its’ entirety. The cable news “talking-heads” only showed speeches they deemed were necessary for the American people to see, and spent the other 5 hours playing Magic 8 Ball trying to guess what will Bill & Hillary say? And will Barack Obama give them some “red meat” attacking McCain or define who he is and what he stands for?
It was unbelievable the amount of talking going on at CNN and MSNBC. They didn’t show any of the following speakers, Sen. Claire McCaskill; Barack’s sister Maya; Gov. Brian Brian Schweitzer of Montana; Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts; Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas; Governor Janet Napolitano of Arizona; Governor Joe Manchin of West Virginia; Governor Jim Doyle of Wisconsin; Governor Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania; Governor Ted Strickland of Ohio; Governor David Paterson of New York; Governor Chet Culver of Iowa; Senator Bob Casey, Jr., of Pennsylvania; Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont; former Senator Tom Daschle; Governor Bill Richardson and Senators Evan Bayh, John Kerry and Jay Rockefeller. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Convention home state Senator Ken Salazar, House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn, and Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL) along with Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. Representative Patrick Murphy (D-PA) and Iraq War veteran Tammy Duckworth, JUST TO NAME A FEW! I ended up watching the entire convention at CNN.com on my laptop. For the record, I know that C-SPAN showed the convention and msnbc.com also streamed it live.
If John McCain does become our next president, I hope the media will take notice and give the American people access to their government to make up their own minds as to who will be the better President. I have a dream that Voting Day should be a national holiday to encourage more turn out. We can be proud of our country today for the nomination of Barack Obama, but we should be ashamed if we let fear and hate dictate the next four years in The United States of America.
