Who is Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska?

In the first important decision as the Republican Nominee for President, Sen. John McCain announced Friday that Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska would be his Vice President. My initial reaction was that this changes the whole Presidential race and Hillary and her supporters must be pissed! We have 65 days to find out who is Sarah Palin, what experience she brings to the table and where does she stand on the issues facing our nation?

So, my research begins on Sarah Palin. She is a first-term Governor of Alaska since 2006 and has a job approval rating of 80% and falling. She was the Mayor of Wasilla from 1996-2002 est. population 7,000. YES 7,000!! She was almost recalled too. She is 44 years old, mother of five children and has been married to her high school sweetheart for 20 years. Sarah Palin loves to run so much that she named her first son Track. She is an avid hunter, loves fishing and she was a beauty queen. The word on the street is that her and McCain only met once or twice (depending on what sources you believe) for a top secret visit at his home in Sedona, AZ. Oh, and she is a really good public speaker. Hint Hint.

Where does she stand on the issues? According to the non-partisan website OnTheIssues.org this is the deal in her own words with the source date:

Over the last 3 days so much as been written about Sarah Palin, the good, bad and the ugly. I am convinced that John McCain picked her to inject some life into his campaign and hopes to win over the conservative right along with any women that still feel scorned by Hillary Clinton’s defeat. His choice is risky since he only met her once or twice, and do we really want to elect a President who likes to gamble? Does this choice of Sarah Palin as VP call into question John McCain’s judgement now? He effectively took the experience debate off the table with Barack Obama by picking Sarah. God forbid if John McCain is elected, chokes on a pretzel the first day in office and Sarah needs to step in . . . Do we give her the same on-the-job training as G.W. received? Look how well that turned out.

I LOVE eBay! But why can’t someone make another online flea market / outlet center that is better than eBay? Then I could bounce around all day looking at Garbage Pail Kids Wax Packs remembering the good old days of 1983. HAH!

Dear Friend,

I forgot to say thank you for your warm hospitality during our winter holiday and making it a truly memorable experience. I had many favorite days with you, but the best was my last day that we spent shopping and going out to lunch. That was a lot of fun. The best part was when you would wait outside in the freezing cold when I shopped and did not talk much the entire day. When I asked, “What’s wrong?” Your answer was, “It doesn’t concern you, never mind!” I know that was just your good mood shining through.

Since I have returned from our visit, your good mood has continued to shine - but only brighter! It has been so easy keeping in touch especially since there are so many fond memories to reminisce. I think it is wonderful that we have been able to maintain such a close friendship while miles away.

Happy Spring! xoxo
